What it is
A small village of whitewashed houses with blue doors and window grilles, on a headland about 20 km from central Tunis, next to Carthage on the same light rail line. Cobbled lanes, cafés looking out to sea, and a couple of house museums.
Why go
It pairs naturally with Carthage as one outing, and the view along the gulf is the best on this coast. It is genuinely attractive, and it is also entirely geared to visitors.
When to go
Go early or late. Between about 11am and 4pm the main street is shoulder to shoulder with coach groups and cruise passengers. Spring and autumn are best. Two hours covers it; do not plan a full day.
