What it is
A long, irregular lake at roughly 1,960m in the far south-west, ringed by steep cultivated hillsides and dotted with small islands. It is an hour or so from the southern Bwindi sectors.
Why go
There is no bilharzia here, and no hippo or crocodile, so you can swim. Dugout canoes, walks along the terraces, cool nights, and nothing you have to get up for.
When to go
Any time; it is cool all year and you will want a jacket after dark. Use it as one or two nights after a gorilla trek, before the long drive back to Kigali or Kampala. It is not a wildlife destination — there is essentially nothing large to see, and that is the point.
Most people stay 1-2 nights.
